Sailing Subscriptions. (For Members without Yachts) are available for Crew & Skippers and include the ordinary SCYC Membership fee.  Initially this program is available on the J-24 yachts and other Club organized Yachts.  Member guests (Space available) pay $15.00 each for the day. (Available to the public for $30.00 as day membership).

Sailing at Sunshine Coast Yacht Club (SCYC)

1. Pre-requisites

1.1 Membership of SCYC at the following levels:
► Ordinary ($170 pa),
► Family ($200 pa) or
► Cadet ($44 pa) levels

There are very limited sailing rights for Social Members and visitors in SCYC events.

1.2 Availability of a Yacht or Sailboat.

1. Options for Availability of a Sailing Vessel
   This can achieved in different ways; for example:
   
   

2.1 Own your own yacht / sail boat. There are as many possibilities as there are types of yachts and sailing dinghies and locations to sail them in. All involve considerable expense, including the initial purchase price, insurance, storage/berthing costs, maintenance, etc. Not to mention the time and effort to manage these.

2.2 A friend who invites you onto their vessel. Generally a low cost option as there is no additional cost for the above types of members. However is not always available and certainly not necessarily at times to suit you. It doesn’t provide the option for class racing or to just decide to go for a sail when it suits you.

2.3 Take an annual subscription (as a skipper or crew) to the SCYC fleet of yachts and dinghies (includes four J-24s and two dinghies). This very much cheaper than vessel ownership, whilst providing regular availability of a sailing vessel. You can do this as an individual, a family, or form a team of friends. Then just book a yacht, or book on as crew, and go for a sail.
The cost of this (in addition to the SCYC membership, above):
► A 12 Months Skipper Subscription: $800
► A 12 Months Skipper /Family Subscription: $950
► A 12 Months Crew Subscription $400
► A 12 Months Family Crew Subscription $475
► A 12 Months Cadet Crew Subscription $100
(Pro-rata rates are available during the year.)
”Skippers” may bring guest crew (who may have not taken a subscription) for $15 each per day on non-SCYC-Event days.
On Club-Event days Skipper and Crew berths will be allocated on an equitable basis.

2.4 Day subscriptions to the SCYC yacht fleet are sometimes possible. These are only on SCYC event days and regular availability is not assured (preference is given to Members with annual yacht fleet Subscriptions). The number of such one-day subscriptions per person is limited to 10 days per year. Also, for regular sailors this option is more expensive (per event) than annual subscriptions. The costs are:
► SCYC Members (and guests); day sailing subscription (Crew): $15 each
► SCYC Social Members; day sailing subscription (Crew): $15 (first 3 days, then $30)
► Non- Members; day sailing subscription (Crew): $30
(Discount of 10% for tickets of “10 one-day subscriptions”.)
