Four J-24's join the SCYC Sailing Fleet:

In July 2011 the Sunshine Coast Yacht Club acquired 4 used J-24 sailboats.  In an effort to help promote Sailing on the Coast through the Club.  SCYC can now offer "Crew membership Subscriptions" we can now offer this sailing fleet to all Owners and Non-boat owners alike who would like to join the club and take advantage of this low cost sailing opportunity.  For less than the cost of Vessel Insurance you could have access to sailing through out the year.  A limited number of Membership are currently available so if this interests you, please get in touch with the Club.

The Story:

4 Identical J-24 one design sailing boats were located at a Yacht Club in Perth, WA.   After being trucked overland to Mooloolaba in Early July Volunteers of the SCYC got stuck into resurrecting the boats at Lawrie's Boat Yard.  The boats arrived in a well used state when you see them today we hope you can appreciate the hard work and long hours may volunteers have spent bringing these vessels up to scratch.  It was truly a major effort.  We'd like to thank Adam from Ashby Boat builders & Chandlers for their professionalism and assistance with some of the needed gear on the boats.  In addition we'd like also to thank Norm & Mark Wright from Wright Yacht & Boat Services for all their help in the yard and for Spray painting the Vessels.
